Get Help Paying for Childcare

Explore programs that help make childcare more affordable in New Jersey.

New Jersey offers programs that can significantly reduce—or even cover—the cost of childcare. Many families qualify through programs like Universal Pre-K (UPK) or NJ CCAP, based on income, work status, and your child’s age.

Most families are surprised they qualify for some level of support. Not sure where to start? We’ll walk you through your options and help you understand what you may qualify for.

Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP)

The New Jersey CCAP can help income-eligible families who are working, in school or in job training to pay for child care. You must be a New Jersey resident and US Citizen, must be working or attending school full-time, and meet income requirements.

Work First New Jersey (WFNJ)

Work First New Jersey (WFNJ/TANF). provides monthly child care support among other benefits for eligible New Jersey residents.

Public Preschool in New Jersey

New Jersey continues to expand the public preschool initiative, with several districts offering free or reduced tuition pricing. Eligibility is determined by the district, and you’ll need to apply through your local school district website.

The Bergen County Summer Campership Fund, administered by Bergen Volunteers, helps children from lower-income working families in Bergen County attend local summer day camps through scholarship assistance.

What If You Still Need Coverage?

Programs like CCAP, WFNJ and Public Preschool don’t always cover your full day. Many families still need care before school, after school, or on days when programs aren’t in session. That’s where Little Tykes comes in.
